Michael Carr is the CEO of Sport Taranaki a role he has held since July 2019 after working  29 years in education. He leads the drive of and vision of Sport Taranaki of “Active for life” something he believes that there is a difference between knowing and doing which is what Sport Taranaki is all about

Michael enjoys all sports having in his early years he played cricket, competed for Taranaki in gymnastics, and played golf for the Taranaki colts, under 20s, and played Rugby where he captained the Taranaki colts, then was reserve halfback for Taranaki from 1993 to 1998, including being part of the 1996 Ranfurly Shield winning game 42-39 against Auckland in 1996.

He is  now coaching the New Plymouth Old Boys senior team, goes to the gym, and  plays golf.
